Shooting day for night on location

The shot I was working on recently was image of a girl and a guy driving a car at night seen through the window screen of the moving car, the problem was we weren’t moving and it was 1pm in broad daylight.  To over come this we shot at f18 to really darken the ambient light outside, we used an octabox on the left with an orange gel to give the warm evening feel on the skin tones and interior of the car.  The final problem was getting the camera at the correct height to compose the scene through the wind screen so as to make it feel it was moving, the solution to our problem was to mount the camera upside down so we could get low enough on the bonnet of the car, we then  flipped the image in post.
